Welcome

WINDOWS GALLERY and CLOUDSPLITTER STUDIO are where art and education and the village community engage with innovative projects; a flexible, entertaining, gathering place, while opening a window to the best talent and culture of the region. Located right between the Ausable Theater and the Bridge over the west branch of the Ausable River.

Vision

The Tahawus vision to reclaim the 110-year old building as a center for a vibrant expression of activity led by the arts, began in 2009.

The Center is a not-for-profit entity (Appleby Foundation) with a small staff, assisted by volunteers. To carry out so large a vision - plenty of help is always welcome.

We hope you'll support Tahawus by becoming a member, or with a contribution.  And THANK YOU!

Dan Hausner,  2024  We are so fortunate to have such a great variety of art and such a great venue here in the Adirondacks. The Gallery is open 1pm - 3pm Fridays and Saturdays, and by appointment.  Check out all the great art if you are in the area!

Georgeanne Gaffney, 2023  As a professional artist, I work both on residential and commercial projects often on a large scale. As I worked on the mural in Au Sable Forks for the Tahawus Cultural Center I was amazed and thrilled to see the massive space they have in the basement of their building! I instantly had visions of how the space can be beneficial for so many artisans and makers. The square footage and open space is incredible, the height of the ceilings just adds so much more possibilities.
